Microscopic section razor, which consists of a metal blade and short handle on a pivot which allows it to fold into a wooden handle; the blade is rectangular in shape with a tapered sharp edge and a straight flat back edge; the handle part is flat and has a curved, tapered finger grip at the end; the wooden handle is made of two pieces of flat, oblong wood, joined at each rounded end and having an open slot between them; the metal blade fits into the slot in the wooden handle.

This microscope section razor was made by Dr. B.N. Kropp from a blank bought at Thomas's in Boston for $1.00 in 1922; according to Dr. Kropp, "I never got better sections than with this knife" (June 14, 1984); the razor was used to cut histological sections.
