Harris positioning handle consists of a Y-shaped cylindrical instrument with a very short tail and a very long left branch; left side has a three-dimensional rectangular handle which, when looking straight on, forms a "T" where it joins the arm; the handle has a rounded top and bottom with a crosshatch pattern to allow for easy gripping; the sides are flat; the ends are rounded; this arm extends from the middle of the handle to where it meets the right arm at a 30° angle; the right side has a cyilindrical handle with cross-hatching; if viewed from the side, the right side also forms a "T" where is joins the middle of the handle; the tail is a finger's width in length, then bends slightly to the left; this part is flattened with a rounded tip and has a hole in the centre to accomodate a screw; a smaller hole is drilled on the right side, above the main hole, but does not go all the way through the metal; parts (b) and (c) are identical except for their size; a dome of solid metal is set on a metal disc, off centre; two pets are set in the disc on either side of the dome; the underside of the disc has a bevelled edge around the circumference and a threaded hole centred under the dome on the other side; above this hole is a peg set into the disc; part (d) is a screw with a straight slot; the threads go from the bottom of the screw to approximately halfway up its length; between the end of the threads and the head is a smooth cylinder, narrower than the threaded section; in use, parts (b) or (c) would be attached to the tail piece of (a), by use of (d); note: the instrument described is the reverse view and angled slightly from that in the attached photocopy.
