Wax model (moulage) of the second step in a vaginal hysterectomy on a prolapsed uterus pulled down through the introitus; the model is made of oil-painted beeswax with talc, built up with gauze and with an attached metal model of a vaginal speculum; the model shows a woman's vagina with a prolapsed uterus being pulled down from the vaginal canal with a string which is through the cervix; an incision has been made around the circumference of the cervix; a model of a vaginal speculum can be seen holding down the perineum; black thread can be seen at the sides of the uterus, indicating stitches; the model is painted to depict true colour.

Models made by Marjorie Winslow; they were commissioned as teaching aids by Dr. Robertson of the Queen’s University Faculty of Medicine, who also helped with the anatomical details.

Condition Remarks
The model was extremely dirty and dusty; the model shows no chips, cracks or breaks in the wax; the surface has two minor scuff marks and not all of the dirt can be removed with distilled waterand cotton swabs; the speculum model has traces of oil paint on it and is slightly bent out of shape, but is complete
