It is injected intravenously or intramuscularly, 2cc/10mg per dose. Used to treat: anxiety, muscle spasms, alcohol withdrawal, seizures, hallucinations, agitation. Also used pre-operation to induce drowsiness, forgetfulness and decrease anxiety. From a class of drugs called benzodiazepines (which affect the central nervous system) it allows the brain to send inhibitory signals through the nerves to calm the body.
