B-P transfer forceps unit, which consists of a container (a) and forceps (b); the container is hollow, cylindrical, stainless steel, with a flat, closed bottom that flares outwards; the top of the container is open and round, and has a round rubber cover over its edges; inside the container there is a large spring with a round metal basket at its top; the basket has holes in its bottom and slots in its side; it lowers and raises on the spring when pushed and released; a pair of forceps (b) fits into the container through the open end; they consist of two halves joined in the centre with a pivot; the handles are long and curve outwards, then back in again; a circular rubber attachment divides the handles from the blades; there are three thin pieces of flat, rounded metal that provide tension between the handles; these pieces are attached together to one handle and rest against the other; the blades of the forceps are long and thin, with flat inner edges and rounded outer edges; the tips have grooves on the inside and serrated straight outer edges.

On the outside bottom of the container, "STAINLESS STEEL // B-P // TRANSFER // FORCEPS // CONTAINER // 800-10 // MADE IN U.S.A." is stamped into the metal; on the outside front of the container, "BARD-PARKER" is stamped into the metal; the forceps have "BARD-PARKER // STAINLESS // MADE IN U.S.A. // C R" stamped into the metal; on the bottom of the forceps rubber attachment, "BARD-PARKER // 24 // MADE IN U.S.A.. // NO. 800 // T [surrounded by hexagon] // DANBURY, CONN." appears in raised rubber letters.

Condition Remarks
The transfer forceps unit showed no signs of corrosion, and there were no dents or breaks; there was a white film in patches at the bottom of the container; the rubber pieces appeared stable; there were four gouges in the groove of one of the forcep tips; all parts moved freely.
