(a) Black scope is a hollow cylinder open at both ends; one end flares out into a small lip with three small ledges jutting out halfway up the lip, equidistant from each other; the other end swells gently into a truncated knob; the handle and plug (obturator) (b) consists of a long, thin metal tube with a flat, round disk, corrugated on its side, on one end, and a small, short bullet-shaped black plug on the other; about a quarter of the way down the handle is a circular flange, flat on top and rounded at the bottom; when assembled, (a) fits into (b), and the obturator extends from either end of (a).

Bakelite (?) is slightly scuffed; shows a small buildup of dust (?) inside the scope; the metal is also slightly scratched and, although stable, exhibits small signs of corrosion.
