Biopsy punch is a long, thin metal tube that tapers into a thinner cylinder, hollow and terminating in a hooked, cleft prong; the main barrel has two long slots on either side, each with striations and a metal bump underneath; through these slots extend metal arms, tubes bent in a curvy, extended "W" shape (down, up, and outwards); a finger can fit into each on either side; these arms connect to a metal pipe inside the barrel, and move the pipe up and down; the pipe is smooth under the arms, but above them it is threaded like a screw, and this portion extends several cm beyond the flanged top of the barrel; the barrel's slots extend all the way to its top, which is also threaded; a ring-like attachment fits over it and holds it all together; this attachment has a thick, rounded tab, curving down then up, probably meant for a thumb; above this tabbed ring is a thin, corrugated ring, threaded onto the grooves of the main barrel; a short, thick cylinder with metal pipes, rounded at the end and jutting out horizontally at 90° angles to each other is threaded onto the screw-like extension, and controls the movement of the pipe within the barrel; when the pipe is fully extended out the bottom of the barrel, its tip--a rectangular bit, concave on two opposite sided and with an eye like a needle--should protrude a few mm past the pronged end of the barrel.
