Jansen-Middleton's nasal septum forceps, which consists of an instrument made up of three parts which, when joined together, are mirror images and look plier-like; the handles curve outwards and have flat inner edges, rounded outer edges and rounded ends; the top of the handles come together and curve at a 45° angle; they are joined together with a screw; beyond the screw joint are the blades; the blades are jointed and go out, then in, then cross over and are joined with a screw just before the tips; the tips are elongated ovals with concave inner edges, rounded outer edges and tips and sharp sides; the blades have flat inner edges and rounded outer edges; when the handles are squeezed together, the blades close together; two removable tension bars (b,c) hold the handles apart and provide tension between them when they are squeezed; the bars are both made of flat metal that curves outwards; the bars are held onto the handle at the bottom with a pivot and interlock with each other at the top (between the handles) with a notch and slot; the outer edges of the handles have gripping grooves stamped into them.
