Monocular microscope, which has a metal horseshoe base; the back of the base is curved and joins with a hollow, cylindrical body tube; above the base is a flat square stage; the stage has a slide clip on its right upper side (the left slide clip is missing) and a small hole through the centre; below this hole is a round lens and below that, a round mirror; the bottom of the body tube has a round revolving objective holder with three objectives (b-d): (b) - 3, (c) - 1/12 and (d) - 7a; the objectives are all made of cylindrical metal with tapered tips that have glass lenses set into their centres, and threaded ends that allow them to be attached to the microscope; the top of the body tube is round and open; an eyepiece (e) fits into this hole; the eyepiece is made of cylindrical metal with a covered top that has a small glass lens in the centre and a bottom with a glass lens set into it; behind the body tube are two sets of round focusing adjustment knobs; the mi croscope is stored in a case (f) that is rectangular in shape and made of wood; the box is closed with a front door attached at the right side with a hinge and a lock and key (g) at the central left side; the top of the box has an attached rounded handle; the key is a metal skeleton key with a flat, open, rounded holding piece that is attached to a long, hollow cylindrical piece; the end of the cylindrical section has an attached flat rectangular piece with squared notches cut out of it; the inside of the case door has small, thin metal attachments that hold a heavy paper manufacturer's information card (h); this lists information about the microscope and its attachments; the inside of the case has wooden insets that hold the microscope and attachments; the lower back of the case has pieces that hold the base of the microscope securely in place; the left side of the case has two long wooden pieces that hold objective cases; at the upper left side of the case there is a removable objective case holder (i); this holder is rectangular in shape and made of wood; it is closed on the front, back, top and bottom sides and has open left and right sides; the top has five round holes cut into it to allow the holder to hold objective cases; this holder holds three objective cases with screw on/off lids (j-o); the objective case bottoms, (l,n) are all made of hollow, cylindrical metal with a flat, closed bottom and a round, open top that has threading on its upper outer edges; the case tops, (k.m,o) are all short, cylindrical hollow pieces with flat, closed, round tops and open, round bottoms with threading on the inner edges; the tops fit over and onto the bottoms in pairs (j,k) (l,m) and (n,o).
