Faulkner's antrum chisel, which consists of an instrument made from a single piece of metal; the handle is solid and square with a flat outer end; the top of the handle rounds and becomes a solid and cylindrical shaft; the shaft tapers in slightly, then flares out slightly to form the tip; the tip has an elongated oval groove at the top and a thin, sharp rounded outer edge that curves very slightly downwards; there is a rounded band of thin metal across the top of the tip; this creates a sharp, V-shaped outer tip.
