The spring lancet was in good condition; there was one patch of grey-green corrosion on the lever side, 0.3 cm x 0.2 cm; the metal was slightly worn; the velvet lining was slightly faded along the sides; the box was in good condition except for one torn patch on the top of the lid, 1.3 cm x 0.8 cm, and a slight crack in the leather running lengthwise across the lid; the cork in the vial has cracked and was in two pieces; there were two more slightly worn patches on the side of the lid and box where the latch came in contact with the leather

July 28, 2023: Surface scratches; surface grime and wear; discolouration; slight speckling of grey and brown rust on lancet; maker's mark words slightly faded from wear; lancet joints mobile; cork broken and split, deteriorating; glass vile starting to fog; red velvet faded into brown, some fraying, extensive wear; box case broken in two; case lid cracked horizontally and dark red leather portion flaked away
