Display caption reads: "PIEN CH'OH (fl. 225 B.C.) The first Chinese physician whose name is recorded by history. His miraculous ability to see the internal organs through the skin aided him greatly in diagnosis. He was the inventor of pulsology, the complex system of diagnosis from variations in the pulse, and the Nan Ching, the first work referring to pulse theory, is credited to him."
