Rectangular wooden box medicine chest covered in tan leather with a decorative brass lock, black metal bands arounds all edges attached with domed nails and decorative hinged brass handle; hinged base to lid; rectangular shaped lock made by Eagle Lock company, lock stamped with logo of eagle; naroow cream fabric twill tape naile dto bottom and lid to create hinges; inside painted dark green coloured except for dividers are natural wood; decorative paper floral design applied to underside of lid; chest divided into three sections, rectangular compartments either side of one large centre compartment; large compartment divided into 30 compartments of equal size to store bottles; stenciled in black on front is owners name.

Research Facts
The original donor record suggests the chest was donated by the son of W. H. Brouse. Hon. William Henry Brouse, M.D. was born in Matilda, Upper Canada on June 15, 1824 and died in Ottawa on August 23, 1881.
He was a physician with his own practice along St. Lawrence river, 1848. who served on the Medical Council of Ontario (1866-1878) and as Chief Medical Officer of Toronto Life Assurance and Tontine Company. He was a former Mayor of Prescott, Ontario who went on to represent Grenville South as a Liberal in the House of Commons. Was the Surgeon for the 56th Battalion of Infantry. Eventually, he was named as Senator for Prescott serving a total of eight years in federal service. However, it cannot be confirmed that he owned this particular item.
