Valleau purchased the bandage scissors for $1.25; the scissors were required for every nurse and they were instructed to purchase them by Ann Baillie; Kingston General Hospital nurses always used scissors as part of their uniforms; earlier varieties were longer with straight blades and filigree design work; these earlier scissors hung from a black ribbon tied around the belt
