A long, narrow glass bottle, greenish tinge with a cork topped by red sealing wax; bottle is moulded, but very crude, with odd holes broken partway through the bottom; nearly full of crude, brown mixture.

On label: "DR. BEACH'S // Vegetable Composition // Prepared by C. S. HARRIS, Manchester, C.W. (Canada West) // A certain remedy for colds, coughs, sore throat, &c. Also, a preventative to the Chill Fever, Ague, and Summer complaints. // DIRECTIONS — For an adult, half a tea-spoonful of the powder, the same of sugar, put into a tea-cup, fill it half-full of boiling water; for a child, half the quantity; stir it well, when settled take as warm as possible three times a day before meals."
