Hemodynometer gauge (a) in a leather-covered box (b); the box has one hinge along the shorter edge and one hinged clasp on either side; line with velvet and satin; a brass hinged plate can be turned 90° to hold the box open about 30°; (a) is a gauge with a glas cover; calibrations on a white surface appear hand-done, from 0 to 350 mm; a protruding ring and threaded rod are on a spring mechanism; appear to be parts missing because case has an empty square compartment and there is a place on the rod for another component to screw into.
