A hollow brass cylinder (b) sits on top of a moderately thin metal rod; the rod is mounted on a heavy cylindrical metal base, which is attached to a rectangular, green-coloured block (a); the block is held in place by a set of three rods set at fixed distances from each other; the middle rod is threaded; the rods are connected to two metal bars on either side that act as a stand for the instrument; there are four large screws, one at the end of each metal bar.
