Research Facts
Allen & Hanburys is a British pharmaceutical manufacturer, and one of the first British makers of cod liver oil. It was founded in 1715 in London, established by Welsh Quaker apothecary Silvanus Bevan. Allen joined in 1794, and Hanbury in 1808. The company grew in the latter half of the nineteenth century and opened new factories producing 80 different kinds of pastilles. In 1893, the business was incorporated as Allen & Hanburys Limited.
