Electrocardiograph in a wooden case(g) with a metal handle; control panel at back left corner, with three plastic control knobs; a rectangular compartment to be opened and closed by a turning knob; interior divided into two parts; left contains a rubber belt (a) and a paper bag for it (b); right contains a bulb lamp (c) for use on the ECG machine and a box (d) for it; adjacent to the control panel is a small compartment containing a long rubber-covered wire (e) with plugs on both ends; in the middle of the wire is an "on-off" knob; and a long, black wire (f) with attachments on both ends, coiled around a plastic plate; adjacent to the small compartment to the right is another section containing long coils of wires; one end of wire is attached to the bottom of the panel and the other end is separated into four smaller wires with one pronged plug at each end; main body of instrument is largely plastic, with knobs and plugs of brass; at the left is a string galvanometer; at front right is a film canister; behind the canister is a gauge adjustable by a circular knob; a leatherette cover was not numbered; made for Canadian Dept. of Defence.

On a slip found inside case: "OK except burnt out projector bulb"; on outer surface of sideboard a golden metal plate is fastened by four screws and says: ""SIMPLI-TROL" PORTABLE MODEL // HINDLE ELECTROCARDIOGRAPH // NO. 0-50039 // PROPERTY OF DEPARTMENT OF // NATIONAL DEFENCE // MADE BY // CAMBRIDGE INSTRUMENT CO. INC. // Ser. 0-204950"
