Research Facts
"Peppermint oil obtained by distillation from the fresh flowering tops of Labiatae (mint, specifically Mentha piperita) and rectified if necessary; colourless, pale yellow, or greenish-yellow liquid; odour of peppermint and pungent and aromatic cooling taste; relieves gastric and intestinal flatulence and colic and is employed with purgatives to prevent griping; used to flavour dental preparations."
Carminative, stimulant. Also used to treat nausea, spasmodic stomach pains, and used externally as a local anaesthetic and to relieve neuralgia.
