Research Facts
Used as an antiseptic and dessicant (induces dryness). Boric acid can be used in other forms as a dressing, an eye-wash, a lotion, a douche, mouth-wash, paint for the throat, or pessary.
Edward Buckingham Shuttleworth created the E. B. Shuttleworth Chemical Company Limited in 1879 (the name is from 1896), and was the first director of the teaching faculty of the Ontario College of Pharmacy from 1882 to 1891. He was considered a pharmacist, educator, editor, author, artist, and bacteriologist. Shuttleworth lived into his nineties.
