Condition Remarks
Feb. 2023 - overall fair condition, wax model has several deep cracks: one running from left to centre, intersecting with another upward curving crack from left to centre, third crack perpendicular to other two running vertically to bottom edge; loss/missing triangle of wax at bottom of vertical crack; surface of wax model has whitish bloom in places, faint scuffs and scratches. Painted wooden mount board in good condition. Paper label slightly discoloured.
Feb. 2023 - Use caution when handling object; not recommended for travel outside the museum.
Louis Niclet (1867–1924) was made official modeller at the Hôpital St.-Louis following the death of Jules Barretta in 1923. Niclet made 480 moulages in his career, all with great attention to detail.
Roseola is an infection caused by a virus, and predominantly affects young children, although adults can also get it. It usually presents as a fever and a rash that spreads over the trunk of the body.
