Used for Diarrhea, Dysentery, Passive Hemorrhages, to treat poisoning, astringent (causes skin and body tissues to contract). Nutgall is gathered from trees and dissolved in water to create a solution and injected. Can also be powdered and ingested (5 to 20 grain dose). Is a growth on a certain type of oak tree that comes from an insect developing inside. A female punctures a hole in the tree and deposits her eggs, which develop inside. The nutgall is best to be gathered in the middle of July, before the insect can escape. Contains tannic and gallic acid.
