Label reads, "Mr. Harrison. Large liver and spleen. Wasserman positive. Jaundice and high blood cholesterol. Many of the xanthomatous plaques had largely disappeared on therapy with mercury and potassium iodide before the models were made. Dept. of Medicine, U of T"; signed by the makers.

Condition Remarks
June 2023 - overall good condition; wax model of face has slight dent on right forehead, and some debris on left side of same; fabric around models discolouring; paint on mountboard flaking along several edges; paper label detaching slightly.

Xanthomatosis is defined as "An accumulation of an excess of lipoids in the body due to disturbance of lipoid metabolism and marked by the formation of lipoid tumours in various parts and sometimes by profound effects on bodily health"; M. Wishart was trained under Max Broedell at Johns Hopkins; the model was made for the Art Service, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
