Bronchoscope; hand piece: solid cylindrical black metal four-sided handpiece with a dome-like circle in midsection; attached to the dome is a 5-cm headpiece composed of flat collars in steplike stages and various widths; two circular light blue rings enclose the collar with the manufacturer's logo stamped into the metal; distally is a movable wheel-like mechanism with a grooved surface that rotates in a semicircle; beyond the wheel is a flat collar with grooved markings; behind this collar is a flat black ring with a silver strip encircling it with a rivet in the centre; beyond this collar are three ratchets inserted into a flat metal ring at 12, 4, and 8 o'clock; at the end of this handpiece is a flat silver collar with a black metal insert housing six tiny scres; in the centre is a three-collar raised area with a centre prism; circular dome: top - attached to centre of dome and extending down the right side is an L-shaped lever that moves backwards and forwards with a grooved thumbpiece at the end; this lever controls the tip of the bronchoscope and enables the operator to look left and right or up and down; in the centre of the dome at a 45° angle is a hollow channel that houses a plug-like 3-cm long insert of metal and acrylic with a spring wrapped around centre pole with black washers above and below, and a black washer at the distal end; coming off the left side of the dome is a black circular fibre optic power supply cord; the end of this cord is inserted into an oblong-shaped 9-cm black metal plug-like piece with a silver ring at the end and a rotating collar; extending beyond the ring is a silver metal 6.5 cm bar with a circular prism inserted at the end; to the left of the bar is a 2-cm cylindrical rivet-like pin that also plugs into the power source and acts as the source; at the base of these plug-ins is a tiny metal strip held in place by two minute screws; left side of metal plug-in is a solid silver cylindrical knob with a rivet at the top; below this knob is a silver label; to right and left of this knob are four tiny rivets; extension of handpiece is a black fibre optic cord with white bands in the centre of the cord at 5-cm increments; at the end of this cord is a metal insert with an opening at 12 o'clock and three glass prisms at 5, 6, and 7 o'clock; behind this itp is a smooth area 8.5 cm in length that acts as a balloon; this area is a dull black colour; accessories: black acrylic cylindrical hollow sleeve with a closed end distally; open end slides over the end of the black fibre optic cord to protect the prism; twisted steel wire 8 cm long; fingerpiece is triangular in shape with a single twisted wire coming off the centre; the wire houses a fine soft bristle circular brush; attached to the triangular wire right limb is a paper-like white tab; (c) a long twisted 99-cm flexible wire cleaning brush, oval-shaped loop at proximal end with a white paper-like tab attached to it; at distal end is a tiny bristle brush 0.3 cm in length on a single wire with a pinhead-sized end; (d) suction catheter, a long hollow clear plastic tube; proximal end is a white solid cylindrical handpiece that is graded in thickness; at 2.5 cm is a hollow post with a luer-lok end; running through this catheter is a silver wire 105 cm long topped with a green plastic cap that attaches to a cylindrical handpiece by a luer lok; a circular black acrylic lens cover with the underside hollowed out; carrying case, which is a solid, flat suitcase-type case; light grey with silver-coloured metal trim around rim of lid; spring locks right and left sides of silver handle; in the centre of lower half of the case attached to the handle by a heavy white cord are two keys enclosed in a plastic bag; inner case: base and lid of the carrying case have very thick inserts of foam, contoured to accomodate the instrument for transportation purposes; three black rubber caps consisting of a body and a lid attached by a black rubber strip; cap is hollow at both ends with a solid centre; top has a ring in the centre, bottom has a dimple in the centre; (j-n) five Olympus disposable cytology brushes with plastic sheaths; these brushes are still in their original shipping packaging with manufacturer's instructions and specifications typed on outside of each package.
