Pathology slides in a wooden box, which consists of seven glass slides, each with labels and a prepared kidney specimen contained within a raised enamel-bordered glass circle; the specimens range in colour; the slides are contained within two wooden trays divided into four compartments each; tray (h) contains four slides and tray (i) contains three, leaving one compartment empty; the inner bottom surface of the trays are painted white; the box that contains the trays and slides has a hinged top with a front broken clasp and an outer brown rectangular label, and a hinged front.

Acquired from Dr. M. A. Chiong, who was given the slides by Dr. Gubbins, who worked in the Department of Pathology at Queen's University; the department was moving quarters; originally presented to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons circa 1886 by Dr. C. W. Purdy, Queen's Meds 1869.

Condition Remarks
The wooden box showed signs of wear, but there were no major cracks; part of the front box clasp (hook) was missing; the trays were in very good condition; the paper labels on the slides were moderately yellowed; the enamel on the slides had hairline cracks, and the enamel on slides (a-d and f) and chips missing; the label on the top of the box was brown in colour, and had two tears running horizontally; label cracked; a small percentage of surface missing; wood of case scratched; front right corner missing some finish.
