The ventricular catheter has single white hollow silastic tubing with a clear silastic oval-shaped "platform" that divides the tubing into two segments, the ventricular end and the abdominal end; the platform is located 9 cm from the ventricular end, flat bottomed with 12 perforations through the outer rim and two perforations in the centre; the right side of the platform has a dime-sized bubble with the distal end of the ventricular catheter inserted into it at 3 o'clock; the left side has a dime-sized bubble with the proximal end of the abdominal catheter inserted at 9 o'clock; right and left bubbles are connected on the inside by a tiny two-cm-long open-ended silastic tube; there is a paper-thin clear plastic package with a white paper label glued on, with a peel-back area at top of packaging.
