(a) Monocular, compound microscope adjustable lens tube with eyepiece and three adjustable magnifying lenses; top is flat with a circular eyepiece and a series of terraced collars to a smooth main barrel; along the length of one side is serrated metal band that attaches to (c); the bottom ends in an angled, rotary disk with three lens assemblies, each a solid metal and glass cylinder with a tapered bottom to a glass lens; (b) wooden case, rectangular, hollow, with solid metal ovoid handle attached by a swivel mount; door is entire front face of case and has external metal hinges and internal metal lock; key is stuck in and protrudes from exterior surface of door; interior of case is finished wood with irregular intrusions of wood; (c) solid metal instrument with flat, rounded horseshoe base attaching to a curved Jackson-Lister limb, and square metal viewing plate; mirror and cylindrical glass and metal lens attaches to base beneath viewing plate; Jackson-Lister limb attaches to rectangular metal column with groove attached to (a); paired metal dials on either side of limb form coarse and fine focus mechanism; (d) solid, rectangular wooden rack with four cylindrical holes in top surface, which curves in a convex manner; one side has a groove cut into it for mounting in (b); slot has angled edges and a semicircular end to it; bottom is closed and flat; exterior side has a "D"-shaped indentation; (e) solid, rectangular wooden rack, with four cylindrical holes in top surface, which curves in a convex manner; one side has a groove cut into it for mounting in (b); slot has angled edges and a semicircular end to it; bottom is closed and flat; exterior side has a "U"-shaped slot; (f,h,j) are cylindrical metal caps, flat closed top, threading in interior; (g,i,k) are cylindrical, hollow lens cases, with flat, closed bottom, open top and threaded neck; (l) metal cap, smooth, cylindrical, with rounded edges and a stub of wire attached to inside top; (m) glass bottle, cylindrical, with taper to neck; contains amber liquid, plastic tube and metal spring with a broken top; (n) cylindrical glass bottle full of amber liquid, wrapped in translucent paper label; tapered neck, stuck-on cork stopper; (o) flat, circular metal disk attached by three equidistant arms to a flat, circular metal ring.
