The donor used this device in his family practice in Kingston in the 1960's; he purchased it in either 1964 or 1965.
There are level indicators along the length of the glass tubing. Also on the tube #3 at the top "Westergren pipette." On the base of the stand is engraved the numbers 1,2, 3 and the word "Assistant" that is within a crest.

Overall appears to be in stable condition, no visible corrosion, however the rubber stoppers are very hard and dry.

It was used to measure red blood cells by reading the separation of plasma levels and erythrocyte levels in a patient's blood sample. A reading was taken from the blood sample after 40 minutes, and then again after 60 minutes to determine if the patient was sick.
