Sir Thomas Grainger Stewart was a noted Scottish physician, born in Edinburgh in 1837, and received his eduation at the University of Edinburgh, Trinity College, Dublin, the Royal University of Ireland, as well as the universities of Berlin, Prague, and Vienna. He then went to London and worked in the Royal Infirmary as well as being pathologist and lecturer at Surgeon's Hall. Grainger Stewart was president of the Royal College of Physicians between 1889 and 1891. He also wrote some medical works, including "The Position and Prospects of Therapeutics," and even wrote some literary essays and a play, and liked to study archaeological subjects.
