Metal wall mounted x-ray unit, enamelled in black with gold decoration; I-shaped bracket to be mounted to wall; two pieces of metal lead to wheel at hinge; two more pieces of metal lead down to another hinge with two wheels at either side and metal coiled wire wound around them then leading into two tubes; x-ray head, cylinder flattened at one side to fit atop rectangular base, attached via L-shaped piece of metal; cone at centre of x-ray head base; handle attaches on either side; black-enamelled dials with gold writing on either side of head show patent numbers and manufacturing information, angles; fabric-covered wire runs around x-ray

Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Mr. Al Hunter from Winnipeg, Manitoba; the Victor Electric Corporation began making x-ray machines in 1896; they became the Victor X-Ray Corporation in 1920, were acquired by General Electric in 1926, and by 1930 the company was renamed the General Electric X-Ray Corporation; as dental equipment became more technologically advanced and more specialized, offices could quickly become cluttered; wall mounted instruments helped make the best use of space available
