Research Facts
Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Dr. Peter Markle; the set includes four separators and one wrench from Clev-Dent, as well as two separators and one wrench from the S.S. White Dental Mfg. Co.; separators were used to force adjoining teeth apart so the dentist had more room to fill cavities; because it forces teeth together, the impact of the mallet when filling the cavity is distributed over multiple teeth instead of just one.
