Research Facts
Dr Ralph and Mrs Olga Crawford donated their extensive Canadian dental collection to the DCF to create the museum in 1997; further donations were received while Dr Crawford was Curator Emeritus at the Dental Canada Museum until its closure in 2008; this item was donated by Dr. James G. Brass from Comox, British Columbia; his father was a classmate of the inventor of this product, Olin G. McKenzie, at Northwestern University in the late 1930s; this item was patented in 1943; its primary objective was to provide a simple and efficient plugger construction which can be used in an ordinary drilling handpiece, specifically only with a change in the latch, not the handpiece itself
