This type of unembossed generic type bottles could have - and likely were - used for many types of liquid products, e.g., ammonia or other cleaning products, acids and chemicals of all types as well as liquor, maple syrup, or anything that could be poured into it and back out of the bottle.
The large (about a quart in capacity) amber bottle is what the Illinois Glass Company called a "Druggist's Packing Bottle" in their early 20th century catalogs.
