A pair of wax models (moulage) of a uterus with a large intramural fibroid (a) before and (b) after opening the uterus; the models are made of oil-painted beeswax with talc built up on plywood block supports; the models show a distended uterus with the fallopian tubes and ovaries visible at the sides in both examples; the granular appearance of the fallopian tubes indicates possible salpingitis; the models have been painted to depict true colours.
