Sigmoidoscope, which consists of (a) a graduated sigmoidoscope tube that is made of hollow and cylindrical metal with a round, open tip and a round, threaded open end with a flared lip; there is a scale in increments of 5 cm, from 5 to 25 cm, stamped into the outside of the tube; an obturator (b) fits into this tube; the obturator is made of a solid, narrow cylindrical piece of metal with a large, heavy bullet-shaped tip at one end and a moveable circular finger-grip on the other, that is attached to a solid metal end-cover, permanently affixed by a knocker; the sigmoidoscope obturator fits inside the graduated tube, with the tip coming out of the tube's open tip and the end piece fitting up against the tube's other end; also included in the proctology set is (c) a proctoscope tube, which is a hollow metal tube with an open, bevelled tip and a round, threaded open end with a flared lip; the flared lip has a slightly larger diameter than the rest of the tube; an obturator (d) fits into this tube; the obturator is made of a solid, narrow cylindrical piece of metal with a large, heavy bullet-shaped tip at one end and a moveable, circular finger-grip which is attached to a solid, metal end cover, permanently affixed by a knocker; the proctoscope obturator fits inside its tube, with the tip coming out of the tube's open tip and the end cover fitting up against the tube's other end; also included in the proctology set is (e) an anoscope tube; this is a hollow metal tube with an open, bevelled tip and a round, open threaded end with a flared lip; this has a slightly larger diameter than the rest of the tube; an obturator (f) fits into this tube; the obturator is made of a solid, narrow, cylindrical piece of metal with a large, heavy bullet-shaped tip at one end and a moveable, circular finger-grip on the other which is attached to a solid, metal end cover, permanently affixed by a knocker; the anoscope obturator fits inside its tube, with the tip coming out of the tube's open tip and the end cover fitting up against the tube's other end; included in this proctology set is (g) a light attachment with a glass magnifying lens on one end and a round, hollow metal open end on the other; the end with the glass cover has a larger diameter and a hatched pattern in the metal on the outside edges; the other end of the light attachment is cylindrical metal with a hollowed opening; attached to the inner side of the wall is a dilating bulb that connects to a valve that protrudes from the outside of the light attachment at a 90 deg angle; also attached on the outside of the cylindrical metal piece is an air valve, which follows through to the inside of the hollow opening by way of a small air intake hole; this light attachment fits into (h) a handle; on one end of the handle is a smooth, solid, cylindrical piece of metal with a cut, circular opening in the centre that protrudes as a cylindrical tube with threading, designed for the fitting of the light attachment; a slightly buffed hand grip with two long and narrow grooves on each side tapers to a dull end; the dilating bulbs (i,j) have a threaded end which is attached to a smooth and solid cylindrical piece of small metal tubing; on the other end is a glass half-moon-shaped bulb; these dilating bulbs are spare pieces on the light attachment; all of the pieces fit into a purpose-built case (k); this case is rectangular in shape with a lid that is hinged at the back and has two metal clasps at the front; the inside of the case has built-in blue velvet-covered dividers that hold the instruments apart from each other; in this case two small holes are allotted for the setting of the spare dilating bulbs; affixed on the inside, upper left-hand corner of the lid is a metal Boehm trademark seal

All metal parts show little wear and only a tiny amount of corrosion; the outside of the box shows slight wear on both finishing cloth and metal clasps; tiny stains seen on top cover of case; inside of graduated sigmoidoscope tube has fine and jagged scratches running from one end to the other
