Wax model (moulage) of a somatotype; the model shows a woman who is grossly obese; the model is made of oil-painted beeswax with talc, built up with heavy metal wires in the legs for support; model shows a naked woman standing up on a round base with her legs straight and her arms at her sides; the model shows no body hair; the woman has a great deal of body fat on her thighs, abdomen, breasts, buttocks and back; the abdomen is especially obese; the model is painted to depict true colour.

Models made by Marjorie Winslow; they were commissioned as teaching aids by Dr. Robertson of the Queen’s University Faculty of Medicine, who also helped with the anatomical details.

Condition Remarks
The model was extremely dirty and dusty; the model was poorly handled and stored and as a result is cracked and broken in several areas; the foot on the left side has broken off at the front of the ankle and is missing; both legs are cracked below the knees; both arms are broken and missing sections; the arm on the left side has been broken at the mid-arm with more missing at the front than the back; the arm on the right side has been broken off above the wrist; the surface of the model has several deep and minor scuff marks
