Wax anatomical model (moulage) of a somatotype shows a woman with Turner's syndrome; made of oil-painted beeswax with talc, built up with metal wires in the arms, legs and neck for support; the model shows a naked girl standing up on a round base with her legs together straight and her arms at her sides, but going forward at the elbows; the model has no body hair and immature breasts; the model is painted to depict true colour.

Models made by Marjorie Winslow; they were commissioned as teaching aids by Dr. Robertson of the Queen’s University Faculty of Medicine, who also helped with the anatomical details.

Condition Remarks
The model was extremely dirty and dusty; the model was poorly handled and stored and as a result is broken; the base has a crumbly corroded-looking material on it; there is a section missing from the ankle at the left side back; the arm on the right side is broken at the waist and most of the hand is held on by the internal wires; two fingers and some of the wax on the forearm is missing; the arm on the left side is broken between the wrist and elbow and is missing; the neck is broken and the head held on by internal wires; the surface of the model has several scuff marks

Turner syndrome, a condition that affects only females, results when one of the X chromosomes (sex chromosomes) is missing or partially missing. Turner syndrome can cause a variety of medical and developmental problems, including short height, failure of the ovaries to develop and heart defects.
Shows characteristics of Turner's syndrome, such as a wide carrying angle in the arms, webbing in the neck, and short stature; patients with this abnormality are usually under five feet tall; a female patient with this XO chromosomal abnormality would have no ovaries or breasts.
