Wax model (moulage) of a somatotype of a normal woman; the model is made of oil-painted beeswax talc, built up with heavy metal wires in the legs and body as well as both arms and legs, for support; the model shows a naked woman standing up on a round base with her legs straight and together; the arm on the right side is straight and held beside her body with the hand coming forward; the arm on the left side is straight and held slightly out from the body; the model does not show pubic hair, but the breasts are of a normal size; the model is painted to depict true colour.

Models made by Marjorie Winslow; they were commissioned as teaching aids by Dr. Robertson of the Queen’s University Faculty of Medicine, who also helped with the anatomical details.

The model is extremely dirty and dusty; the model was poorly handled and stored and as a result is cracked, badly stained and broken; the base has a crumbly corroded-looking material on its surface and remnants of (spider?) egg sacs; there is also a small chip missing from the base; the feet are still attached to the base with the exception of the small toe of the left foot which has been broken off and lost; the feet are broken off from the model at the ankles, with the internal wires remaining; the model is missing the legs from the knees to the ankles; the hand on the right side has been corroded and is missing the thumb; the hand on the left side is missing all the fingers from the knuckles downwards; there is a chip missing from the breast on the left side; the shoulder on the back of the right side has been damaged and a large piece is missing; the head has been broken off at the neck and parts of the neck are missing; there is a large chip missing on the left side of the head and face; the back of the head (hair) shows corrosion staining (yellow on the brown hair) as well as residue; the whole surface of the model shows several scuff marks
