Intensifying x-ray screen, which consists of an outer rectangular metal frame with an inner section which is hinged at the top, has a lifting handle at the bottom and a metal bar across the middle which turns to lock the inner section into the frame; the flat painted middle piece of metal has felt on the inside over which is a piece of coated paper; the inner piece fits tightly into the outer frame.
Length: 25.2 cm. x Width: 19.8 cm. x Depth: 1.7 cm.
Condition Remarks
The screen was dirty and dusty; (2) the top surface of the screen had many shallow scratches in it from heavy use; this does not appear to be a result of its exhibit history; the metal frame is also worn from use , and there is a spot of inactive corrosion on the one short side from a fingerprint, 1.2 cm x 1.7 cm; there are smaller dark smudges from handling and use over approximately 10% of the frame; on the reverse side the exposed felt is moderately frayed; there were no signs of active corrosion; the paint on the hinges of the backing plate was worn.

Research Facts
The intensifying screen had x-ray film put inside and was then placed under the patient for x-raying; the intensifying zinc sulfide in the screen allowed for shorter exposure times
