Gottstein's straight adenoid curette, which consists of a hollow four-sided handle with a closed, rounded end and flat sides with horizontal gripping grooves on the outer edges; the handle tapers to join with a solid cylindrical shaft that is straight until the tip; the tip flares out to create a teardrop shape, bent upwards at a curved 90° angle; the inside of the tip is cut out and the inside edge of the tip is sharp; the outer edge of the tip is rounded.

The shaft has the words, "THE J.F. HARTZ CO. 2" stamped into the metal as well as the Jetter & Scheerer logo of a snake twisted around a caduceus rod with a crown above it.
