(a) Metal scope is a hollow cylinder open at both ends; one end flares out into a lip, which tapers into a short series of threads; because the threaded (grooved) part is wider than the cylinder itself, this part slopes smoothly inwards to the opening; (b) the metal handle is essentially a thin tube with a flat, round corrugated disc on one end, and a bullte-shaped plug on the other; about one-third of the way down, the pipe widens into a long, circular flange, flat on the top and tapering into a round lip that encircles the pipe; this flange fits into the smooth inwardly sloping end of (a); when assembled, (b) fits into (a) and the plug and handle extend out from (a).
