Condition Remarks
Fine focus damaged; threaded cap that fits over fine adjustment screw is smashed; case forced open, with some damage; #2: there are scratches in the surface of the box; minor staining and a circular dark stain on the lid; the wooden keyhole inlay has three vertical splits; the lower edge of the box opening is notched; there was a crack in the front edge of the lid 15.7 cm long; the bottom of the box is slightly warped in the front proper right corner; the bottom of the box is dusty and the middle velvet divider worn in two spots; there was a broken slide in the bottom of the inner compartment; the leather base backing for the microscope is completely detached; the metal parts of the microscope and objectives show wear but no corrosion; knobs move freely but the main cylinder does not raise or lower; the mirror has approx. 11 scratches and worn spots; no cracks in any of the objectives; (d) had no glass; unnumbered bracket was warped and bent.
