Condition Remarks
Some surface scratches and wear; very minimal black and white staining on blade; one horizontal edge of upper interior cover chipped in two places as circle shapes and another places in horizontal line pattern
J. Gray & Son was founded in 1848, and after 1867, instruments made with tortoise shell fell out of fashion because of the introduction of aseptic surgery by Joseph Lister.
