Condition Remarks
All lancets show minor surface scratching on both arms; lancet (a) has an arm broken off sharply, dark spots and wear on both sides near tip of blade, and minor finger print pattern near text; lancet (b) has three minor chips close to the hinge on one arm, small dark speckles near the end of both arms, and several dark spots on both sides of the blade; lancet (c) has several minor chips along the edges of both arms especially close to the hinge, wear and/or residue at the tip of the blade and a dark spot at the top left of the text; lancet (d) has one chip on an arm near the hinge, wear near the tip of the blade, and a chip at the very tip of the blade; case (e) shows surface wear, top of case lid has separated exposing cream paper underneath, paper has worn away around lancet storage openings

Dr. William Taylor (1833-1891) was a graduate of McGill; he first practised in Montreal, and later in Peterborough; he retired to Niagara Falls.
