A paper label affixed to the underside of the lid has a series of handwritten conversions or equivalencies of apothecary weights into grains (?) and ounces.

Condition Remarks
(a) metal scale shows some moderate signs of use; brownish-black discolouration on 40%; white deposit between the cracks of the scale; (b) weight has brown discolouration in patches, and minor scratches; the bottom has a large brown stain in the centre and some scratches and nicks; (c) patches of brown spots on approx. 2%; the bottom also shows signs of use; (h) box shows signs of use; scratches and minor stains; no signs of mould
