A wooden box (o), with a wire handle on the lid and two hooks and a lock on the front, contains: a staple holder for 23 pairs of suturing clips in numbered compartments (a); a closing clamp (b); a gear wheel (c); a chrome-plated screwdriver (d); a chrome-plated filling pin (f); a very fine-tipped filling tweezer (g); a filling rack (h); a chrome case with a sliding lid containing a metal washer and 8 tarnished suture clips (i); a polythene bag, stapled closed with a label, containing a clear plastic box of silver suture clips (k); two identical keys to the case (l,m); 23 pairs of sutures in a felt wrapping (n); (e) is unidentified or missing; (j) is the lid of the interior compartment of the case.
