A doctor's bag with metal sterilizer; includes (a) rectangular bag made of leather stitched over cardboard frame, opening on top with two stiff flaps, hinged, running length of bag, with metal clasp and lock; attached to these are two leather-covered handles; bag has bottom compartment, opening to one side, which holds (b) a rectangular metal sterilizing box with (c) a metal lid with handle, and (d) a shallow metal tray, rectangular, with thin metal handles and perforated with round holes at regular intervals.

(a) minor corrosion on metal feet at base; leather is dry, cracked and marked, missing in some places, exposing metal and cardboard frame; handle worn at bottom; some interior straps broken; one interior snap missing; most metal uncorroded; piece is basically stable; strap for bottom compartment's exterior flap missing; (b-d) plating is chipped in places; pieces, especially lid
(c) dinged; excessive wear, but stable; #2: leather is hard and frayed around the edges.
